Josh Montoya - Development Director
Josh Montoya is a native of San Diego, California, and joined the Army in 2001. He has completed over seven operational and combat deployments throughout his 20 years of service.
During his two decades in the military, he earned numerous awards, including three Meritorious Service Medals, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Joint Service Achievement Medal, five Army Achievement Medals, the Iraq Campaign Medal with two combat stars, the Global War on Terrorism Medal, and the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal.
He earned a Master’s of Arts in Strategic Studies from the National Defense University in 2018 and a Bachelor’s of Science in Strategic Studies and Defense Analysis from Norwich University in 2017.
In June 2021, Josh began transitioning from active duty and began his journey into a security-focused career within the NoVA/ D.C. Metro area. He currently resides in Stafford, Virginia, with his wife Megan and son Joshua.
Heroes Harvests appointed Josh to the role of Development Director in July of 2021. Josh has spent the last 12 years working on development efforts in war zones throughout Northeast Syria, Iraq, Philippines, Cambodia, and Thailand. He has a strong passion for addressing the root causes of instability of a given demographic to provide sustainable humanitarian assistance and development. Josh now focuses on helping those in need here in the United States by assisting the growing disabled veteran population through his advocacy of Heroes Harvests in the Washington, D.C. area.
